Wesley Elizabeth Washburn

I know I know TWO posts in a row about this silly kid…..I promise it will stop. But now that the news is out I thought I’d share a couple pictures of our girl and a cute story.

This is our favorite because you can see her little lips and nose! And that white blob floating above her is her hand, she kept rubbing her eyes.

I love this one for two reasons

A. WOOK AT HER WITTLE EAR!!!!!!!

and

2. This was her first picture, and we spent about 20 minutes poking her and shaking her–trying to get her to roll over so we could get the classic profile picture as seen earlier. She refused. Nothing we said or did would wake her. Now there are two conclusions you can jump to because of this. 1. She is already stubborn or B. She is an excellent sleeper. I choose the latter.

It’s a……..

Some already know, but some don’t (so don’t just blurt it out in the comments!)

So check out this old picture, if you can spot what’s different, you’ll know what "it" is!

And for the record, we are overjoyed with the decision!

WHO-AH

One small step for nursery, one GIANT step for Matt and Mary Elizabeth.

Yes, Baby Washburn now has three shelves and a closet bar all to themselves.

Whoa……..

Dog Daze of Summer

In case anyone was worried about Ollie this long hot summer, here is an update:

He is VERY active protecting the house, he runs back and forth from the front door to the backyard guarding the perimeter.

Front Guard:

Rear Guard:

(Fifty)Six Shooter

There is so very much to tell you all about the last week of our lives. So very much. But first, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mark the FIFTY-SIXTH birthday of by dearest Uncle Randy.

Per tradition, I’ll honor the Birthday Boy by posting a picture from my extensive personal collection of family photos. Today, I’ve picked out a picture of Uncle Randy that was taken just before one of his chorus concerts.

If you lean in real close, you can almost smell the energy drink on his breath!

So, Happy Birthday, Unk. I hope your next 56 YEARS are as interesting as the first 56 YEARS have been. Oh, and any time you want to move back to Memphis would be fine by me…

Father=51

As you may or may not know, my dear ol’ Dad turns FIFTY-ONE YEARS OLD today. It’s hard to believe – it seems like only yesterday that I was showing off his 50th birthday portrait.

As per tradition, below is Dad’s 51st birthday photo, which is a picture of he and Mom that was taken last week in their backyard.

Now those are a couple of spring chickens, huh? Does that look like a 51-year-old man to you?

So happy birthday, Father. May your spirits stay as high as your belt in the picture above.

* Bonus points to anyone who correctly identifies the true identity of the couple pictured.

Michael and the Mudcat

The other day, I placed a call to the Washburn Family Homestead just to say hello and see what was happening with the family. Mom picked up and told me that they had been fishing down at the pond, and Michael had just caught one of the biggest catfish she had ever seen.

She wasn’t lying…

Mom says that the fish fought for close to 30 minutes, but Michael never gave up, and brought it in to the bank – all by himself. Of course, once it was out of the water, you’ll see he’s terrified of it. But the dang thing is half as big as he is, so I guess I’d be a little wary of it too.

So congratulations, Michael. You keep this up, and you’ll almost be as good an angler as your big brother is.

Gratuitous Baby Post

Ok, I promise you that just because we are having a kid by no means will this blog become solely about said kid. We do not want it to come into the world thinking it is all about them, that’s not a healthy attitude and we are not sure we even like it that much yet…

That being said, I am dying with impatience already and it’s only been 14 weeks!!!!

So since I need something to occupy my mind, we are starting the first (not annual!!!) LOMW Baby Predictition Pool.

To compete, simply submit your guess of the baby’s gender and the due date in the comments. For tie-breaker purposes, you may also submit your prediction for the time of day the baby arrives.

For guessing purposes I will tell you what I know about fetus Washburn:

  • I am carrying low at the moment
  • The heartbeat was 160 BPM
  • I concieved in February
  • I am 27 Matt is 29
  • The ultrasound due date predicted 11.21.08, but the due date chart predicted 11.8.08

Some of those things may sound random but I promise you there are millions of websites that use that information and more to tell you what you are having.

Get to picking, cause I need ideas!

Whooop, Whoop, Whoop

That was the sound of the heartbeat we heard Thursday afternoon, after a ridiculously long, but worth it wait at the Dr.! It was beating 160 times a minute which was in the "perfectly normal" range. Good to know our kid is already exactly average, we’ll be working on that for the next 6 months!!!!

Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers!

Beloved Belated Birthday

I’ve yet to mention this, but last Sunday, our beloved Ollie celebrated his 2nd birthday. It’s hard to believe that, in a little more than 700 days. the little pup that used to fit in our pockets has grown to become such a big part of our lives. I mean, just look at how small he is in this video, which was taken the first week we had him.

[youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmjWhhnKfG4]

Things sure have changed. Now, he’s lazy, slightly tubby, and has terrible gas, but he is loved anyway. No wait…that’s me…I guess dogs really do grow to be like their owners after all.

In any event, Ollie had a big birthday weekend. He got to chase our friends around the backyard while we played cornhole, he went to a party at his Puppy School, and spent some quality time with his buddy, Ella. He’s been asleep ever since.

Anyway, please join me in wishing Ollie a happy birthday. Of course, he can’t read, but we’ll make sure he gets the idea.
